 Introduction


Overlooking the Aravalli Hills, Nahargarh Fort has a panoramic view of Jaipur city. Constructed in 1734 by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II, the fort was a defense trio with Amber Fort and Jaigarh Fort. Now, it stands among the most popular historical places to visit in Jaipur, cherished for its architecture, peaceful ambiance, and beautiful sunset views.

Nahargarh Fort History

 

Constructed in 1734 by Jaipur’s founder Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II.

 Originally called Sudershangarh, then renamed Nahargarh, meaning “tiger’s abode”.

 Never attacked, and used mainly as a retreat and vantage point.

 The fort has lovely palaces such as Madhavendra Bhawan, constructed by Sawai Madho Singh for his wives.

By Car/Bike: Approximately 6 km from city center. Well connected by cab, bike, or auto.

 By Bus: Nearest bus stop is Kanak Ghati.

Trekking Route: Scenic hiking route from Charan Mandir to the fort.

 It’s one of the most popular sunset locations in Jaipur. The sunset view of the Pink City getting a golden-orange glow is breathtaking. It’s also a photographer and Instagrammer favorite.

Padao Cafe: A rooftop open-air cafe with panoramic views. Entry to the cafe is ₹50 (variable against food bills).
